AkiKopie

Welcome to AkiKopie. A Windows front end to Paul Kellett's amazing Adisk4 DOS program. It allows you to transfer Samples and Programs from Akai floppy disks in RAW format to your hard disk, easily using a Batch file type process, involving NO typing!

Whilst there are a plethora of programs that can handle Akai CDs and hard/removable disks, the humble floppy has been ignored. And transferring your floppy library to Akai media is not a pleasant experience!

Plus on older Akai machines (like the Akai S1000), it has NO handling for duplicate file names - not even a warning! So, if like most people, you name all of your samples similarly (i.e. "1" or "tone", or even something sensible like C2), then you stand a high risk of overwriting your samples and using them repeatedly in the wrong programs :-(

Main Features:

Download:

AkiKopie (26KB) ZIP > Download Shareware < & for > Registered users ONLY <

Requires VBRUN300.dll available separately from Microsoft.com if you don't already have it.

Register:

register@PeterBuick.com

Limitations:

  1. Due to DOS limits, the filenames are limited to 8 characters.
We use a sensible auto-naming scheme which removes spaces and plus signs, and then
takes the 4 left & 4 right most characters (usually the part with pitch info).
This does mean that Programs need to be re-referenced to the abbreviated sample names,
and the index text file is an easy way of cross referencing this.
  2. Don't use illegal characters in folder (or file) names. ONLY use letters, numbers
and underscore. All other characters are illegal DOS names and will cause major problems.

Warning:

Adisk does not like floppy disks which have been formatted incorrectly. If you have force formatted a Double Density disk (should have one notch) as HIGH Density (should have two notches), Adisk4 will freak out. You simply need to load and save via an Akai sampler on to a properly formatted disk.

Shareware:

AkiKopie is SHAREWARE. That means that if you use it past a fully functioning trial period, that you must register.
Registering will remove the NAG screens and give you access to the latest version. Registration is just UK£10 (about US$15). You can pay electronically via our secure SSL web site or post us a cheque in UK Pounds Sterling payable to "Peter Buick".
